I grew up in Southern California and then attended the University of Arizona. I studied marketing and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business. I began working for a non-profit as a special events coordinator and later went on to work in wine sales and then as a pharmaceutical sales representative. My husband's career provided us with an opportunity to move and experience different parts of the United States. We lived in Arizona, Connecticut, the Bay Area in California...then came a BIG move to the Netherlands.
Living as an expat in Europe was a unique and incredible experience. We were able to travel extensively and I found a deeper appreciation and interest in architecture and design. When we returned to the United States in 2006, we settled in San Antonio, Texas. I decided to explore my interest and attend the Interior Design Program at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. I found it incredibly valuable to get a solid knowledge and understanding of classic design principles and space planning. I worked as an intern and as a design assistant before I started abode interior design. It has become a wonderful way to deliver my creativity and passion for functional and beautiful design while helping a wide spectrum of clients get the results they desire.
A major part of my talent is to put my client's needs at the center of all projects, and to bring my energy, enthusiasm and expertise to make the process fun and less stressful. I use local and online sources, as well as to-the-trade vendors and resources, to find an interesting mix that makes each space special. My goal is to collaborate with each client and help move them through the design process in the most efficient way possible with the most desirable results. I respect my clients' individuality, they value my work, and I LOVE what I do!
You probably have a bunch of ideas for your home or office. Fundamentally though, you want to know IF your ideas are right for your space and if they are not, you want to know WHY! Hiring a professional Interior Designer gives you objective opinions based on what is current, what products are available, how to mix old with new, and so on. Many people make decisions based on their likes, dislikes and price without taking into consideration what really works best for their home or office.
